Great news, everyone! This weekend is Labor Day Weekend, which means we have three days off instead of the usual two that go by way too fast. Normal weekends are (sadly) often taken up by all the errands we couldn't get to during the week. That, or cleaning. Whichever way it goes, it's probably not exactly how you'd prefer to spend your weekend. However, holiday weekends grant you that one extra day and give you a chance to do all the relaxing you wish you could do every Saturday and Sunday.
But what should you do with your extra day?
Watch a Movie
This one's an easy choice for all of us cinephiles out there. Sometimes there's nothing better than turning on a good film, popping some popcorn, and lounging on the couch. You can put on a go-to movie or two, or you can check out something new! One nice thing about movies is that there are so many options to choose from. Although, sometimes that can make things more difficult... you know, when you spend an hour trying to decide what to watch. If you're really struggling, you can always count on the Labor Day Weekend "Harry Potter" marathons!
Or, if you're not one for movies, but still want to watch something, pick a new series to check out! Binging a new show can really help pass the time for the entire day. Plus, it's exciting getting lost in something like that!
Soak or Swim
Temperatures might finally be starting to go down in your area, but seeing as they're probably not the ideal "cool" we're all hoping for quite yet, cooling off in the water still sounds like a nice time. You can hang out in the pool during the day and cool off while working on your tan a little more before fall arrives, or you can go for a night swim if you're not feeling the sun. If you opted for a hot tub instead of a pool, turn it down to the coolest temperature and enjoy the massaging jets.
BBQ and Enjoy Your Backyard
Every holiday weekend needs food of some sort, and during this time of year, barbecuing is a fun way to enjoy a good meal and hang out with your family. Grill up some hotdogs, burgers, brats or veggies and maybe try switching things up by eating picnic-style or setting up a table and chairs outside to enjoy the weather. And when you're done, lay around on blankets and watch the sky change to night.
A backyard barbecue could even be combined with a pool day or night. Work up an appetite by swimming!
Read a Book
Sometimes all you need to recharge is to curl up in your favorite reading spot and allow yourself to be taken away to a new world. Reading is a nice, quiet activity that let's your imagination take flight, and it's so rejuvenating for the mind.
How will you be taking advantage of your day off?
